Dunlap Streetscape Project, Phase I

The Dunlap Streetscape Project, Phase I is a roughly 500 linear foot streetscape renovation project that includes sidewalks, driveway aprons, crosswalks, and drainage improvements, including a bioswale planted with native grasses. This project provides a much needed pedestrian connection along the formerly underutilized Pine Street alleyway from the Sequatchie County Courthouse to Coops Creek, where the project ties into the Dunlap Coops Creek Greenway, Phase 1, which is currently under construction. This streetscape project provides a safe pathway for Dunlap residents and visitors to walk away from the busy main thoroughfares in town and will directly connect to the Coops Creek Greenway which will provide an additional mile of pedestrian and bicycle connectivity, directly linking downtown Dunlap with the Sequatchie County Schools campus and retail opportunities along Rankin Avenue. In addition to connectivity, the first phase of the Dunlap Streetscape Project has provided for additional stormwater capacity in the wet weather conveyance leading directly to Coops Creek, a part of which consists of a bioswale with amended soil and native grasses to clean the first 1” flush of stormwater before it reaches the creek.
