The Saltillo Brownfields Project and Redevelopment Plan stemmed from an Environmental Protection Agency grant for brownfields reclamation. This grant was obtained through the city’s partnership with PM Environmental Consultants. Through a collaborative design charrette process that included several citizen input meetings, Farmer | Morgan developed a redevelopment plan for the City of Saltillo that includes plans for reclamation of several brownfield sites. Conceptual designs were completed for each brownfield site, providing opportunities for new uses to improve the quality of life for citizens and visitors of Saltillo after necessary cleanup efforts have been completed. These conceptual designs are intended to highlight the brownfield sites as opportunities rather than concerns. The brownfield redevelopment concepts were then integrated into a city-wide redevelopment plan that ties the brownfield sites into the fabric of the city and leverages the close proximity of the river and the scenic nature of the area.
