Bledsoe Waterline Extension
South Cumberland Utility District, TN
Year:
2020
Budget:
$1,500,000
The South Cumberland Utility District CDBG Waterline Project is for the installation of approximately 41,000 linear feet of waterline to serve an area of Cumberland County that currently does not have access to clean water. Those water supplies are contaminated with E. coli bacteria and are very high in sulfur which is very corrosive to piping and household appliances. This project will also provide redundancy to the Pikeville WaterDepartment. The Pikeville Water Department serves 1,685 customers including the Bledsoe County Correctional Facility, which houses over 2,500 inmates. During periods of drought, the customers of the Pikeville Water Department are forced to enact strict conservation measures. This project will provide an additional water supply for the Pikeville Water Department by providing an interconnection with the South Cumberland Utility District.
