The Pointe STEP Sewer Collection System Project is for the installation of a 50,000 gallon per day recirculating media filter with a drip irrigation disposal system and approximately 26,500 liner feet of PVC sewer force main. This sewer system will serve 179 lots in a development located in Clay County, Tennessee called The Pointe. The Pointe overlooks Dale Hollow Lake and consists of approximately 400 lots, many of which have excellent lake views. 179 of the 400 lots do not meet the soil requirements for a sewer septic system thus requiring off-site sewer treatment. Because of the location of The Pointe, connection to an existing sewer system is not available. This project will install a sewer treatment system that will provide sewer service to those 179 lots making them marketable as buildable lots and greatly increasing the value of each lot. Each residential unit on this sewer system will utilize a septic tank with an effluent pump that will remove the liquid from the tank and send it to a recirculating sand filter for treatment. Once the effluent is treated it will be disposed of using a subsurface drip irrigation system. Meeting the state requirements for effluent treatment and disposal allows this property to be developed for residential use while ensuring that the environment is protected.
